How do I get married in France? ReadClose
In France the Church cannot perform the legal part of a marriage. So a French wedding takes two parts; a smart, low key trip to the local Mayor's office for a civil ceremony followed by a blessing ceremony and extravagant reception at a later date.
As France has quite stringent residency requirements to legally marry, we advise our clients to follow French custom by having a quiet civil ceremony in their home country before coming to France for their main event.
This gives you the best of both worlds…..guests who are unable to join you in France could perhaps witness your civil union & therefore still be included in a part of your celebration.

Who can perform my celebration? ReadClose
You have a number of options, depending on the type of ceremony you want:
- For a ceremony in a non-religious setting we have our own trained English celebrant who can help you design your ceremony and deliver your words on the day.
- Alternatively we can find you a bilingual celebrant who is happy to include a religious element, even if your blessing is not in a church.
- Or we can liaise with the local authorities to allow you access to a church and to help you find a priest or vicar to perform the ceremony, in English, French or a mix of both.

We ask our clients to take out a wedding insurance for their peace of mind & financial protection. In fact we ask to see a copy of the insurance and in the unlikely and unfortunate event of anything going wrong, we will co-ordinate with the insurance company to ensure that your claim is paid as quickly as possible. Nearly all wedding insurers cover weddings abroad, most at no extra cost. Wedding insurance companies are easy to find on the internet, but as we are not insurance agents, we ask you to deal with this yourselves.

Is it possible to celebrate my civil partnership in France like I can in the UK? ReadClose
You need to carry out the legal formalities at a registrar's office in the UK, as France has no system in place at the moment to legally register a civil union. Guests who are unable to join you in France for your ceremony and reception witness your civil union at the registrar's office and still be a part of your celebration.
